Case-based Activity

You are a medical education faculty member at a large academic institution. You want to introduce an interactive session on trauma-informed care that is required for medical students. The curriculum committee is unsure that this is appropriate, or that there is room in the curricula. How do you respond?

Discussion

Who has tried to implement curricula at their institution? What are challenges? Are there allies/facilitators? Look at this figure from Gerber et al and answer the following questions:

  1. Where in the longitudinal curriculum could TIC fit in? 

  2. Are there existing sessions/themes that it could be grouped with? 

  3. What are some creative ways to leverage other funding/opportunities. 

  4. Review this commentary from TPJ. Any further ideas for integrating TIC into our curriculum to ultimately serve the needs of our patients, students/trainees, faculty, and organizations?
